Ok earlier in the day I made a chocolate cake. I was going to bring it to the park but after the icing litterally melted off the already uneven cake layers Zach and I decided to keep it at home. Despite how it looks it tastes really good. Based on Jen's advice that things here tend to melt faster and the fact that I should have followed the alternative directions on the box hopefully we the next cake we make will turn out better. Posted by Picasa

The fireworks show started at 8:30pm and it was spectacular! They even had smiley face fireworks!  Posted by Picasa

Fireworks on the beach. Posted by Picasa

This little girl was one of many with a sparkler. Posted by Picasa

Fireworks are legal in Hawaii and people started setting them off well before the sun went down. Needless to say there was a lot of smoke produced from all the fireworks. Posted by Picasa

Zach and I went to Ala Moana Beach Park to see the fireworks for the Fourth of July. We arrived at 5pm to get a good spot on Magic Island which was as close as we could get. We also met up with Jen and her family and got to meet her younger brother Issac. Posted by Picasa

Zach's purple tongue after eating a blackberry shaved ice. Posted by Picasa

After a hard afternoon hike, we stopped at a local ice cream shop recommended to us by another couple on the trail. Right next to the ice cream shop was a good little mexican restaurant. I highly recommend the chicken sopes. The salsa was rather hot so I had to have a small blue raspberry shave ice. Unfortuately the blue colored shave ice turned my mouth, lips, tongue and teeth blue.  Posted by Picasa

A puffball mushroom with a watch for size comparison. Jen saw this one on our way back down the trail. I call it the Potato Puffball.  Posted by Picasa

Another artsy picture. Posted by Picasa

Zach laid on his back on a grassy part of the trail to take this picture. Very artsy. Posted by Picasa
